Lawrence Tomlinson's original Ginetta G4 25URO was invited to race at the prestigious Goodwood Revival meeting 07.
The car originally manufactured by the Walklett's back in 1964 was featured in Practical Motorist magazine and road tested by Graham Hill Lawrence, the owner of Ginetta Cars Limited had the car stripped and rebuilt in readiness for the big event. On a recent visit to their factory Ivor Walklett offered some advice on originality and set up as things had been changed over the years.
Richard Dean qualified 9th in Friday's practice but with a few tweaks they were confident of improving for Saturday's race.
The sun shone on race day as they lined up on the grid. The flag dropped and they all got away cleanly. There were a few incidents up and down the order, but the Ginetta was making its presence felt with its short breaking distance and cornering ability but was a bit under geared for the long haul. Coming home fifth as the flag fell, was a fantastic showing for this year event; but next year...
